Antioxidants Skin Care Products
You've probably heard about the benefits of antioxidants for your body. But did you know that antioxidants can also be great for your skin? It's true. Just like your internal cells, your external skin cells are subjected to the same free radical damage. Antioxidants skin care products can help counteract this damage while protecting and nourishing your skin. It does help to know a little more about both free radicals and antioxidants for both your skin and the rest of your body.
Free radicals are a part of life. Everyone has them. They are a natural result of everyday bodily processes. For example, they can be caused by exercising, going out in the sun and even breathing oxygen which we all do. However things like cigarette smoking, sun damage from not wearing sunscreen and excessive alcohol consumption can cause an overload of free radicals which can attack and mutate healthy cells. Free radicals have been implicated in a variety of conditions including arthritis, cancer and heart disease. Not to mention the havoc they wreck on your skin.
The good news is that you can nourish the inside of your body with antioxidant rich foods and beverages like produce, green tea and dark chocolate. While a healthy diet can affect your skin in a positive way, many skin care experts will tell you that you also need topical antioxidants. These can be found in a wide variety of over the counter and prescription skin care products. For example there are lots of cleansers, toners, serums, lotions and creams that contain ingredients like green tea, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E and coenzyme Q10 which are all powerful antioxidants. These ingredients nourish, protect and rejuvenate your skin.
In addition to antioxidants skin care products, make sure you are using a broad spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF every single day. If you are someone who likes the look of a tan, you may still get a nice glow without the UV damage even though you are wearing sunscreen. Of course you can also use sunless tanning products and bronzers to fake a sun baked look without harming your skin. While you don't want to go out in the sun unprotected, you also don't want to avoid it altogether because sunlight produces vitamin D and offers other health benefits as well. A regimen of sunscreen plus antioxidant rich skin care products will keep you looking youthful and vibrant for years to come.
